Desparate to rent housing/Camera

My first Great White Shark dive off Guadeloupe. I desperately need to rent an UW camera housing for a Nikon D200 or D300, or, a complete UW digital camera set: camera plus housing. I’m leaving Barrie Sept 21. Thanks!

A scuba diving mishap in Lake Ontario has led to one man's death, according to reports.

The diver was pulled from the water without vital signs and was pronounced dead at hospital, according to unconfirmed reports.

A second male was also injured but he is expected to survive.

The incident occurred near Bronte Harbour, which is located near Oakville.

It isn't clear what led to the mishap.

The identity of the diver who died has not been released.

Little Cayman

Just back from a week in Little Cayman. Stayed at Little Cayman Beach Resort.

I highly recommend it. Only 40 rooms. Top-notch service. Food that is out-of-this-world. Several excellent chefs!

Reef Divers is the associated dive shop. Again first class. Once your gear is on board, you don't have to touch it for the rest of the week. Everything is looked after for you including a daily rinse. Boat captains and divemasters were all fantastic. You're welcome to dive alone and do your own profile if you wish. We did. Navigating the wall is simple. Out and back.

Most of the diving is at Bloody Bay Wall. Spectacular for the Caribbean!

We took a trip to Cayman Brac to dive the Capt. Keith Tibbets. Well worth the extra $30.

Other than diving, there is little to do but relax and enjoy the solitude!

Having said that, I only have one complaint. Too Many Texans! Need I say more?

So if you're looking for a quiet holiday with some great diving and fantastic food/service, then Little Cayman is the place for you.

Newfoundland September 2010

I am planning another trip to Newfoundland this fall. We are going to dive on Bell Island wrecks http://www.wrecksandreefs.com/newfound.htm
I am also planning to search for a couple of wrecks (one is submarine ) from Second World War. We have coordinates and side sonar,the rest is luck

Underwater Mask Removal

I was at the pool yesterday, practicing underwater mask removal and putting it back on (with my snorkel only) and found it kind of difficult to get the rhythm to exhale from the nose. Is that normal or is it something that you can do with practice?

Exhaling through the nose was what seemed hard (as it seemed that water kept getting in my nose).

Orientation: Sitting upright with bow facing South.

Depth: Bottom 212ft, Hangar deck 150ft, Flight deck 130ft, and Island 70ft.

Newfoundland shipwrecks 2010

We've been diving in Conception Bay South for the last 6 days. The weather was great and diving incredible. We visited 4 different wrecks in depth from 90 to 150 feet. The water temperature 2 degrees,visibility 60 to 100 feet.
Tomorrow last day of diving and we are going to hunt for scallops.

Victoria Day Weekend 2010 - Tobermory

We had a full boat of easy-going and well-trained divers, fantastic topside weather, great visibility underwater, and a Sunday night BBQ dinner of delicious steaks generously provided by diver and Chef Martin Kouprie, co-owner of Pangaea Restaurant (Bay and Bloor, Toronto). The only thing that would've made it better was one more day to dive!

As for the rest of the story: what happens in Tobermory stays in Tobermory! What I can share are some of the pictures I took on our dives.
