I'm going to be in the SE Asia area mid-Nov thru end of Jan and was wondering if anyone was interested in meeting up. I'm thinking of the Phuket area and maybe even some cavern diving up in Pattaya. Depending on what deals I can find when I get over there, I might do the Philippines.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Bahamas November 27

We have already 10 divers registered to go to Bahamas on November 27th. It's sailing/diving/fishing charter. We will be doing up to 4 dives per day,including night diving,wall diving,shark diving. We are planning to hunt for lobster yummy. At this moment it looks like we can add few more and have whole boat for Aquasub divers only

The Cove

Has anyone seen the movie The Cove, now playing at Cumberland 4 in Toronto?

I've heard from a few people that it's worth watching. In case you haven't heard about the movie, it's about the ugly slaughter of dolphins and porpoises in Japan. The toxic meat is then sold to Japanese consumers, sometimes labeled as whale meat. There's no winner in this bloodbath. A few years ago, I saw a documentary on this subject and I can still see the bloody water of the cove into which the animals are being driven to their deaths.

We had an unfortunate accident last weekend at our family country property. My son dropped his gold initial ring into the pond. It is hard to say for certain, but I am guessing that the ring is in roughly 6 to 8 feet of water, which would require a diver with scuba equipment. I am writing with the hope that perhaps you know someone who might be willing to help us out. I am willing to rent an underwater metal detector. Unfortunately and with much sadness, after 20 years I am being forced to hang up my fins. But my loss can be some others gain. As a result of my retirement, a garage full of gear is now for sale. A significant chunk of my stuff is already spoken for, so this list may change if those items free up, but here is a list for starters:

If you are interested in getting into tech, you can buy a full system. Stainless steel backplate, continuous webbing, 2 OMS Vega backup lights, 1 OMS SMB, 1 pair of PS 130 tanks hydro tested this year (manufactured 2004), OMS bands and manifold, 1 OMS single bladder wing, one 8 pound and one 15 pound V weight, 2 Mares Abyss regs equipped with miflex hoses and standard hoses included as back-up hoses. Complete kit for $2000.

3 Mares V16 first stage deco regs with proton metal second stages and miflex hoses and standard hoses included as back-up - $300 each

2 Aluminum 80s red - $100 each

1 Suunto D9 computer complete with titanium and elastomer straps. Elastomer strap has the extension band as well - $600

Wednesday Kingston Charters

Hey All,

Planning to make a couple trips out to Kingston to do some charter dives during the week.

So here's the details:
-Minimum 3 People
-Boat leaves at 9am, returns whenever we're done
-Cost for 2 dives $70-75 depending on how far out we go
-Dives will be decided that morning based on skill levels and weather

-For $400-500 we can rent the boat for 4 dives for the whole day, we'd need 6 dedicated people to make that worthwhile

These are the three days I'm thinking looking at:
-Wednesday September 9th, 2009
-Wednesday September 16th, 2009
-Wednesday September 23rd, 2009

Please reply or PM with who is interested and for which days then we'll figure out the rest and I will book it.

So far the 9th looks like it will be happening for sure, get back to me this weekend if you want in!
